This panel sheds light on the dual role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the media sector: as a tool to combat disinformation and at the same time as a potential source of new disinformation threats. Experts from the media industry, academia and politics will discuss the latest developments and challenges in the application of AI, e.g. to detect and combat fake news. They will examine how the increased use of AI itself can contribute to the spread of disinformation and what impact this has on society. It discusses how ethical standards and regulatory measures can be developed to ensure transparency, fairness and responsibility. It will also show what skills are needed to act confidently and critically in an AI-driven digital world and how digital resilience can be strengthened.
