Status and perspectives of the regulation of AI
The topic of artificial intelligence (AI) is on everyone's lips. On the one hand, this relates to the current and, above all, future opportunities associated with the technology for a wide variety of sectors. On the other hand, however, it also refers to the dangers posed by susceptibility to errors, lack of transparency, inadequate security mechanisms and discrimination. The latter have long since also called legislators to the scene. With its "European AI Strategy", the Commission has already dedicated itself to this topic in 2021 and developed various initiatives from it, first and foremost the proposal for an AI regulation. In addition, data and algorithms also play a more or less important role in other EU legal acts, including the Platform-to-Business Regulation, the Digital Services Act and the Digital Markets Act. The current state and development perspectives of AI regulation at the EU level and the emerging challenges for the future will be highlighted in this presentation.
