Do (not) be afraid: Media between artificial intelligence, social responsibility and technological revolution

We are in a permanent crisis - and the media with us. At least that's how it seems when the general modus operandi of our time is the now well-tried doomscrolling. How do we get out of it? How can we make a world that only seems to get more complex day by day tangible again? In 2023, the obvious answer to these questions is: artificial intelligence will take care of it. And indeed, the hype surrounding AI has gone so far that not a few people are talking about a veritable revolution that is also overtaking the media industry. AI efficiently prompts itself through every area of everyday life, automates banal and less banal processes, from writing news texts to developing sophisticated educational concepts, and may soon cost us our jobs. Artificial intelligence is exciting, but it is also frightening. One thing is clear: if we want to get through the crisis intelligently, we have to take AI seriously as a (perhaps not so independent) player. So how do we manage both to use its techno-utopian potential and not to forget the human being on the way? So let's look for answers together to be prepared as a media industry for the AI future.
