Content authentication with Web3 and open source solutions

Can Web3 help regain media trust? Disinformation through pictures, videos, quotes or completely fake articles was already a problem before the boom of generative artificial intelligence, especially in social networks. ChatGPT, Stable Diffusion & Co. have now made it even easier to create fake content. So will users soon completely lose track of what is authentic and what is fake or artificial? That doesn't have to be the case: On the one hand, factchecking teams are doing valuable work, and on the other, technical tools are being developed to confirm the authenticity of content. We'll gain insights into the practice of factchecking and the open-source solutions of the Content Authenticity Initiative initiated by Adobe. We also explain how Web3 technologies such as blockchain can contribute to solving the problem, using the Media Authenticity Protocol as an example.
