Big tech has to go

How we liberate the Internet

At the latest since Elon Musk's takeover of X (formerly Twitter), it has become clear how far-reaching individuals and companies can control the platforms. The platforms bundle the bulk of attention - a handful of US digital corporations thus dominate the public sphere of the future. This upsets Dr Martin Andree. He teaches digital media at the University of Cologne and for years has been primarily concerned with the media-democratic threats posed by the market-dominating positions of US digital corporations. Andree's latest work "Big Tech must go! The Digital Corporations are Destroying the Economy and Democracy - We Will Stop Them" has been on the market for a few weeks and asks the central question: Are these digital monopolies, which are bringing ever larger parts of our living environment under their control, dominating the formation of political opinion and at the same time abolishing our free market economy, still legal at all? Why should we put up with this any longer? In his keynote speech, media scientist Martin Andree will explain how far the hostile takeover of our society by the tech giants has already progressed - and how we can take back the internet.
