Dr. Jörg Ukrow

Jörg Ukrow is deputy director of the Saarland State Media Authority (LMS) and executive board member of the EMR. He studied law, politics and history at Saarland University, where he received his doctorate in law. From 1989 to 1992, he was a research assistant at the Chair of Public Law, International Law and European Law, and subsequently Head of the Media Department in the Saarland State Chancellery until 2003. Jörg Ukrow is a member of the legal examination board of the Saarland and was a founding member of the editorial board of the Zeitschrift für europarechtliche Studien (ZEuS). He is the author of monographs on the judiciary law of the ECJ and on the law on the protection of minors, co-author of monographs on digital radio, investigative journalism, fake news and artificial INtelligence, author of various essays on constitutional law, international law and European law as well as co-author of various commentaries on EU law and media law. As Deputy Director of LMS, Jörg Ukrow is closely involved in the implementation of the AVMSD (State Media Treaty as well as implementation laws of the competent national regulatory authorities) and the coordination with his colleagues in Germany and other EU member states.
