Catching up: How digitization can become a competitive advantage in Germany and Europe

International pioneer for people-centric, sustainable digitalization and AI - Europe still has the chance to play a leading role in these important future topics. Valentina Daiber, Head of Legal and Corporate Affairs at o2 Telefónica, is committed to seizing this opportunity for economic growth and social prosperity. Her credo: "We need an economic and regulatory ecosystem on which digital applications and especially AI functionalities can be securely built." For the lawyer, a resilient and powerful data infrastructure is just as much a part of this as a legal framework with international standards. This legal framework should allow room for constant innovation, while at the same time effectively protecting against abuse and focusing on the benefits for people. The exchange between Valentina Daiber and journalist Richard Gutjahr will focus on the question of how Germany can drive forward the necessary network expansion. They will discuss the role played by accelerated approval procedures and approval fictions for construction projects, as well as the extension of frequency usage rights that expire in 2025. They will also discuss why the AI Act planned by the EU - modeled on the DSGVO in the area of data protection - can become a global standard for European and ultimately international AI regulation.
