Prof. Dr. Klaus Meier

Prof. Dr. Klaus Meier has held the chair of journalism with a focus on innovation and transformation at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt since 2011. Prior to that, he was a professor at the Institute of Journalism at TU Dortmund University and at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, as well as a newspaper and television journalist. Since 2020, he has been leading the research project "Innovations in Journalism in Democratic Societies" together with researchers from five countries, which is funded by the German Research Foundation, among others. He was in the first cohort of fellows at the AI Campus Berlin (2020/21) and analyzes AI in journalism as well as in university teaching. He has been Vice President for Studies and Teaching since 2021. Klaus Meier is the recipient of the 2017 Ars legendi Award for excellent university teaching from the Donors' Association for the Promotion of Science and Humanities and the German Rectors' Conference. His teaching and research areas: Journalism and journalism research, ethics and quality of journalism, cross-media developments and innovations in journalism, editorial research, journalism training. Since 2022, Klaus Meier has been chairman of the German Society for Journalism and Communication Studies (DGPuK).
