Dr. Christian Franckenstein

Dr. Christian Franckenstein (born 1963) has been Chairman of the Management Board of Bavaria Film GmbH since October 6, 2014. He came from MME Moviement AG, where he had been a member of the board of directors since 2004 and served as its spokesman or chairman since 2010. In 1999, Christian Franckenstein had co-founded moviement GmbH, Munich, which under his leadership was expanded into one of the leading independent television production companies in Germany. In 2007, with the entry of All3Media as majority shareholder, the important connection to an international partner and format supplier was achieved. Born in Westphalia, Christan Franckenstein studied business administration at the European Business School after completing a commercial apprenticeship. After holding various positions at medium-sized investment companies and completing his doctorate, he and partners founded the successful NOVAMEDIA-Fonds, an investment company for film and TV financing, in 1997. Christian Franckenstein has been a member of the board of directors of the Alliance of German Producers since its foundation in 2008 and was a member of the supervisory board between 2005 and 2014 and chairman of the supervisory board of Studio Babelsberg AG from 2008.
