Thomas Josef Dauser

Director Innovation Management and Digital Transformation, SWR

Thomas J. Dauser has been head of the newly created Innovation Management and Digital Transformation department at Südwestrundfunk (SWR) since June 2021. Here, he has built up new teams for change management, analytics, search engine optimization, community management, and the SWR X Lab, SWR's innovation laboratory. Since then, the SWR X Lab has been developing new digital products and services, especially for young people, that carry the public service mandate into the digital future. Thomas Dauser is responsible for strategic projects at SWR relating to artificial intelligence (AI), gaming, virtual reality, personalization, dialogue, and data.
Thomas Dauser studied general rhetoric and political science in Tübingen and worked simultaneously as a reporter and presenter at the SWF/SWR studio in Tübingen. From 2004, he worked at SWR in Mainz, initially as a writer for the political magazine “Zur Sache Rheinland-Pfalz” on SWR television, and then from 2006 for “Report Mainz” on Das Erste. He has received numerous awards for his investigative research, including the Medienpreis der Kindernothilfe (Children's Emergency Aid Media Award). As part of the editorial team, he was also responsible for special broadcasts on federal and state elections, among other things, and was involved in the development of new TV formats.
In 2012, Thomas Dauser became head of the SWR's directorate, and in 2016 he also became head of strategy, already accompanying the multimedia restructuring at SWR in these roles.
