
Christian Trippe
Director of Programs for Russia, Ukraine and Eastern Europe, Deutsche Welle
Christian F. Trippe was born in 1961. He studied history and politics in Cologne and Vienna. After working for BBC radio in London and WDR television in Düsseldorf, he joined Deutsche Welle in 1993. From 1999 onwards, he initially headed the DW studio in Moscow, then from 2002 the Berlin capital studio and from 2007 to 2014 the studio in Brussels. This was followed by assignments as special correspondent and in 2016/2017 as studio director in Kiev; since 2020 he has headed DW's main department for Eastern Europe. Trippe has co-edited a handbook on war and crisis reporting and co-authored a book on foreign journalism. His documentaries address the New Cold War in Europe (ARTE/mdr/DW 2016), the Nord Stream-2 Baltic Sea pipeline (ARTE/mdr/DW 2018), and the series of alleged state crimes in Belarus twenty years ago (DW 2019).
