FUNKE Mediengruppe

Gundula Ullah has been Head of Procurement at FUNKE Mediengruppe, one of Germany's largest media companies, since April 2019. She is steadily driving forward the transformation of the entire purchasing organization, which covers the needs of all business units (newspaper, magazines, digital, radio). Gundula Ullah looks back on more than 20 years of international professional experience in purchasing and contributes her expertise to important digitization initiatives, such as the renewal of the company's purchase-to-pay platform. Before taking on the role of divisional purchasing manager at FUNKE, the 49-year-old held similar positions in retail (Esprit), telecommunications (Vodafone) and aerospace/defense (Airbus). Sustainability is a matter close to Gundula Ullah's heart. Since joining FUNKE, the Dorsten native has been committed to sustainable procurement in purchasing and has already entered into various cooperation agreements. Since September 2021, she has been appointed by the management as Head of Sustainability in addition to her role as Head of Purchasing. Since then, she has launched and implemented several initiatives: In April 2023, she and her team published the first sustainability report in FUNKE's corporate history. She based her report on the international GRI standard. The Sustainability Report 2023 also includes the corporate carbon footprint in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG) in Scopes 1-3. Communication is also an important part of Gundula Ullah's strategy. She has implemented various communication formats for internal and external use. She recently brought a new vodcast format to life under the slogan "FUNKE for Future." The Purchasing Manager has also launched a "Supplier Dialog" with FUNKE's most important value-added partners on the topic of sustainability and had Purchasing certified as a "Sustainable Procurement Organization". The topic of sustainability also includes "Diversity & Inclusion," for which a number of activities will be initiated in the media company in 2023, starting on German Diversity Day. Gundula Ullah is also involved in an honorary capacity with the German Association of Materials Management, Purchasing and Logistics (BME), where she has held the position of Chairman of the Board since January 2021.
