Thomas Hinrichs

Thomas Hinrichs has been Director of Information at Bayerischer Rundfunk since 2014. He was instrumental in shaping and implementing one of the biggest change processes in the history of Bayerischer Rundfunk. He established the first cross-media program directorate and, with BR24, created a common brand umbrella for all BR information content. Thomas Hinrichs is responsible for the current affairs, politics and business, sports and leisure program areas as well as the Bayern 1, Bayern 3 and Puls program area, which comprises Bavaria's most successful radio programs. He is also responsible for BR's digital units and distribution management. In view of the growing importance of AI and data-driven journalism, Thomas Hinrichs has continuously developed his department in recent years and established units for research, fact-checking, data journalism and AI, among others. Before his time as Information Director, Thomas Hinrichs worked as second editor-in-chief at ARD-aktuell in Hamburg and has been a television journalist and correspondent for ARD in Munich, Bonn and Berlin since the 1990s.
