Prof. Philip Gassmann

For many years, I have been examining every aspect of a film production in terms of sustainability, efficiency and creativity. In many cases, new film technologies are a great help and enrichment. In addition, I am intensively engaged in the question of how sustainability and the accompanying changes can be better told. Thus I was and am a "pioneer" in this new subject area, in which Germany has meanwhile taken the lead in the international arena. "Green Production" is well on its way to becoming the new "standard". Large broadcasters such as ARD, ProSiebenSat1, RTL or ZDF, as well as platforms such as SKY or Netflix, have been resolutely calling for a more sustainable production method since this year, and it is now all the more urgent to introduce it in every department. This requires comprehensive training. This is where I see an important task for universities. Since 2013 I have been sharing my knowledge and experience in Green Film Production and Green Storytelling in seminars, workshops, lectures and conferences. My field of activity includes universities, TV stations, studios, networks, film funding organizations, governmental organizations as well as academies in Germany and Europe.
