Dr. Tobias Schmid

Dr. Tobias Schmid is Director of the State Media Authority of North Rhine-Westphalia (LFM NRW) and European Representative of the Directors' Conference of the State Media Authorities (DLM). In this role, he heads the Evolution of the Media Regulatory Framework working group of the European Board for Media Services (Media Board), the successor organization to the European Regulators Group for Audiovisual Media Services (ERGA). He is also a member of the Media Board's Executive Committee. Since April 1, 2021, he has been a member of the German UNESCO Commission's Expert Committee for Communication and Information, and since September 2022, he has been Chairman of the Federal Expert Committee for Media in the German Music Council.

In 2020 and 2021, Tobias Schmid was Chairman of ERGA. From 2005 to 2016, he was Head of Media Policy at Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland, and from September 2010 to December 2016, he served as Executive Vice President of Governmental Affairs at RTL Group.
