Media Convergence in the Protection of Minors

Conventional concepts for the protection of minors are increasingly encountering limits in the convergent media world. The establishment of an “all-round” solution in technical youth media protection seems increasingly difficult to implement. On the other hand, the development of partial solutions – such as youth protection systems for a special platform – offers new approaches. In 2018, for example, youth protection programs for closed systems were judged suitable under German law for the first time. Since then, a lot has happened in this area. In the end, both sides benefit – children and young people through better protection and companies through satisfied customers who can effectively protect their offspring.
