Journalist and head of the WDR studio in Essen / North Rhine Westphalia
Georgine Kellermann was born in 1957. After graduating from high school, she began freelancing for the Rheinische Post. She began her WDR career as a freelance writer at the Düsseldorf regional studio. After various positions as a correspondent for the ARD studios in Washington and Paris, she returned to NRW – first as head of the WDR regional studio in Bonn and then Duisburg. In 2019, she will take over as head of the WDR regional studio in Essen. This is also the year in which she comes out as a trans woman, first to her colleagues and later publicly. Since then, she has been raising awareness for the rights of marginalised groups not only offline, but also online on Twitter.
