Director, Bremische Landesmedienanstalt (brema)
Cornelia Holsten has been Director of the Bremen State Media Authority since 2009. In 2017, she was Chairwoman of the Commission for the Protection of Minors in the Media and in 2018 and 2019, she was Chairwoman of the Directors’ Conference of all State Media Authorities and at the same time of the nationwide Commission for Licensing and Supervision (ZAK). Since 2019, she has been the media institutions’ thematic officer for accessibility. She is a member of the board of the Institute for European Media Law (EMR). Holsten’s current areas of focus are digitisation trends, voice assistants, influencer marketing as well as accessibility and diversity in the media. She is an adjunct lecturer on media usage trends and media law at the University of Bremen and the Bremen University of Applied Sciences.
Previously, Holsten was a judge at the Bremen Regional Court. As a trained judge mediator, Holsten was instrumental in introducing court-based mediation at the Regional Court. From 1999 to 2002 she advised and represented companies as a lawyer for business, media and IT law.
