About the Event
The 32nd MEDIENTAGE MÜNCHEN took place for the first time from 23 to 25 October 2019 in the International Congress Center (ICM) of Messe München. The Media Conference was founded in 1987 in order to show the specialist public the possibilities of the then young private broadcasting and the potential of cable networks in Germany.
With MEDIENTAGE, a platform was created to initiate a specialist discussion on important media-specific issues. The spectrum of topics was broad from the very beginning and ranges from current media-political aspects to advertising, marketing, new forms of offering and questions of programme quality to the protection of minors. The rise of Bavaria as a media location went hand in hand with the three-day industry highlight. From 1987 to 1998 inclusive, the Munich Society for Cable Communication (MGK) organized the congress.
DVB Multimedia Bayern GmbH, which was renamed “Medientage München GmbH” in March 2007, has been organising the MEDIENTAGE MÜNCHEN event since 1999. The accompanying media expo, formerly DigitalSigns, is since then integral component of the MEDIENTAGE MÜNCHEN, which take place annually in October.
What began as a meeting of private radio pioneers has developed in recent years into one of the leading industry meetings of its kind in Europe. Today the MEDIENTAGE MÜNCHEN, with over 7,000 participants from home and abroad, several hundred accredited journalists, over 400 speakers and more than 90 individual events, is one of the pioneering events for the media and communications world.
Top managers and media experts analyse the key trends in the media industry. Experts from television, radio, print and mobile communications, specialists from the fields of digitisation, Internet and multimedia as well as advertising professionals, media politicians and filmmakers meet. Together with other summit events, the opening event, in which the top players in the media industry take part, is one of the most highly regarded rounds of discussions in the media scene. The highlight of the three-day media event is the glamorous “Night of the Media”, where the who-is-who of the media world meets.
The congress is organised by Medientage München GmbH under the management of Stefan Sutor (Chairman), Nikolaus Lörz and Lina Timm. MEDIENTAGE MÜNCHEN is supported by the Bavarian State Chancellery and the Bavarian regulatory authority for new media (BLM).
