The current developments around the coronavirus also affect the MEDIENTAGE Special “Connect! The Future of TV”, which was scheduled to take place on 22 April 2020.
Against the background of the incalculable development even beyond Easter, it is not possible to hold the event. In the hope that the situation will relax in the next few weeks, we have therefore decided to postpone the event, including the presentation of the Connect! The Smart TV Award to June 23, 2020
New Date? Tuesday, 23rd of June, 2020; Conference and Award: 10:00 a.m. – approx. 6:15 p.m., followed by the “Connect! The Smart TV Award”-party until 10:00 p.m.
Where? 13th of the Design Offices Munich Atlas (Rosenheimer Straße 143c, 81671 Munich)
The tickets remain valid until further notice. A free cancellation or transfer to another person is possible until 22 April 2020.
Facing changing user habits and increasingly fragmented target groups the television industry is constantly undergoing change. TV companies meet this development, among other things, with expanding their video on demand platforms in order to further bind users and to have a share in advertising budgets. Streaming services, OTT offers, apps and programmatic advertising are conquering the living rooms. Competition on the market is fierce – in addition to the usual suspects such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video or YouTube, other heavyweight players are entering the streaming stage: Apple TV+ has been available in over 100 countries since November, Disney+ will launch its service in Germany in spring 2020. The streaming trend is here to stay.
But what happens next? Will the streaming boom be followed by consolidation and how many services does the user want? TVoD, SVoD, AVoD – what are the advantages of the respective business models? Which parameters determine success in the battle of streaming providers? Where will the journey take us when the device manufacturers also become content platforms? What roles do new technologies such as 5G play in the distribution of content? How is advertising on connected TV developing and what opportunities does this offer for brands? How is addressable TV developing? What are the long-term consequences for linear television?
These and other vital questions will be addressed at the MEDIENTAGE SPECIAL “Connect! The Future of TV” on the 23rd of June 2020 at the stylish Design Offices Munich Atlas with a 360° view over the rooftops of the city.
The event will be moderated by Carine Léa Chardon (German TV Platform / ZVEI)
