Sanne Kurz

Susanne “Sanne” Kurz has been a member of the Bavarian State Parliament for Alliance 90/The Greens since 2018 and serves as her parliamentary group’s spokesperson on cultural and media policy. With her professional background as a filmmaker and cinematographer, she brings practical experience from the cultural and creative industries to her parliamentary work.
Raised in Neustadt an der Weinstraße, she moved to Munich in 1995 to study documentary film and television journalism at the University of Television and Film Munich. During her studies, she gained international experience, including at the Nederlandse Film en Televisie Academie in Amsterdam. Since the late 1990s, she has worked as a filmmaker and cinematographer, realizing various documentary and artistic projects both in Germany and abroad. Her experiences as a freelance artist fostered a strong commitment to cultural policy, particularly regarding better working conditions for artists and cultural professionals.
In 2017, she joined Alliance 90/The Greens and was elected to the Bavarian State Parliament a year later. There, she serves on the Committee on Science and the Arts and is particularly committed to cultural policy, media diversity, and social security for creative professionals. As a member of the Bavarian Broadcasting Council, she also contributes to issues related to media policy and the future of public broadcasting.
Sanne Kurz lives with her family in Munich and is the mother of four children. Her experiences in cultural work, family life, and political activism shape her work toward an open, diverse, and democratic society.
