Jackie is a political scientist and expert on the United States. She trained as an editor at the German School of Journalism in Munich. Her practical training took her to CNN International in Berlin, the Tagesschau editorial office in Hamburg, and the ZDF foreign studio in New York. She works as a freelance journalist for print, radio, and podcast formats.
As part of the Future of News Fellowship, she is focusing on the topic of “news influencers” in social journalism. These influencers are overtaking traditional news editors, while at the same time, the young target group obtains most of its information from social networks.
How can journalists and editorial offices keep up with this development? She wants to narrow down the broad field of “news influencers” by focusing on the topic of foreign reporting and researching how editorial offices or media professionals can build up “news influencers” with a focus on foreign reporting.
