Dr. Kai Welp

Dr. Kai Welp has been head of GEMA's legal department since 2024. There, he is particularly responsible for the AI lawsuits filed against Open AI and Suno. Previously, he worked as a department head in the legal department. Before joining GEMA, he worked for a national radio station, the German Research Network (Deutsches Forschungsnetz e.V.), and as a research assistant at the Institute for Information, Telecommunications and Media Law in Münster.
