Shakuntala Banerjee

Shakuntala Banerjee has been head of ZDF's main editorial department for politics and current affairs since November 2024, with the programs “heute in Deutschland,” “heute in Europa,” “auslandsjournal,” and “maybrit illner,” as well as investigative, constructive, and foreign policy documentaries and reports. Shakuntala Banerjee has been working for ZDF since 2004. She has worked as a correspondent at the ZDF studios in Erfurt, Wiesbaden, and Brussels. From 2019 to 2024, she reported as deputy head of the ZDF capital studio in Berlin, where she also hosted the political magazine program “Berlin direkt.” Today, Shakuntala Banerjee regularly hosts ZDFspezial programs and, together with Stefan Leifert, has been presenting ZDF election programs since 2025.
