Podcaster, Quarks Science Cops

Jonathan Focke is a science journalist (M.A.), podcaster, and author. As an editor for the science editorial team at Quarks (WDR), he played a key role in developing the digital offerings for Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube and was responsible for their further development. Since 2020, he has been producing and hosting the ARD podcast Quarks Science Cops together with Maximilian Doeckel – one of Germany's most successful science podcasts, which was awarded the journalism prize “Evidence-Based Medicine in the Media” in 2022. In 2023, Medium magazine voted them into the top 10 “Science Journalists of the Year.” Focke and Doeckel are the authors of the Spiegel bestseller “Aber meiner Tante hat's geholfen” (Rowohlt, 2024). In 2025, they were nominated for the Grimme Prize for their video format “Quarks Science Cops Academy.”
