Michelle Müntefering was a member of the German Bundestag for the Herne-Bochum II constituency from 2013 to 2025, and was also the SPD parliamentary group's spokesperson for culture and media (January to March 2018), a member of the Subcommittee on Culture and Media (2013 to March 2018) and the SPD parliamentary group's spokesperson on the Subcommittee on Foreign Cultural and Education Policy (2015 to 2017). As Minister of State for International Cultural Policy at the Federal Foreign Office from 2018 to 2021, she was part of the Federal Cabinet and responsible for international cultural policy. Between 2021 and 2025, she was Chair of the Subcommittee on Foreign Cultural and Educational Policy and Film Policy Spokesperson for the SPD parliamentary group in the Bundestag.
