Sophie Timmermann

Sophie Timmermann heads CORRECTIV's fact-checking team. The team publishes fact checks and investigative research on the topic of disinformation and is building Germany's first fact-checking community with the Faktenforum. Before joining CORRECTIV, she worked for the International Committee of the Red Cross in Geneva, among other places. Timmermann studied international relations in the Netherlands and journalism in Denmark, the US, and Wales. As a journalist, she researched US-led coalition airstrikes in Syria, disinformation during the coronavirus pandemic in California, and the rise of alternative media in the UK.
