Florian Schiller has been Managing Director of OVB Media in Rosenheim, a regional media group with around 1,800 employees, since 2020. There, he is responsible for the strategic direction and transformation of the company in the areas of digitalization, Artificial Intelligence (AI), editorial, marketing, HR, and IT. Under his leadership, the product strategy of the newspaper portal OVB online and the 24-hour news portals was standardized by introducing paid content on both brands and establishing cooperation between the two competing editorial teams. This project was honored with the INMA Global Media Award in the category “Best Innovation in Newsroom Transformation” in 2024. Another milestone was the development and introduction of the AI tool “WortWandler,” which also received international recognition and took third place at the INMA Global Media Award in the category “AI for Internal Productivity.” In addition, he established a hybrid infrastructure for the publishing systems and all workstations at OVB Media, built up the HR and data departments, and implemented their respective strategies. In marketing, he was responsible for a comprehensive restructuring and the establishment of a central OVB Media marketing department. The cross-media sales unit was also reorganized and merged under OVB Media Sales. Previously, he was Chief Digital Officer (CDO) at OVB GmbH & Co. KG from 2017 to 2020, which has over 500 employees. In this role, he led the digital strategy for OVB's local newspapers and was responsible for product development, project management, and the successful relaunch of digital products in 2017, among other things. This also included the move to new technical platforms for e-paper and the strategic realignment of digital products. At the same time, he was Managing Director of OVB24 GmbH with around 50 employees from 2014 onwards. There, he was responsible for all strategic and operational management – from human resources and editorial to marketing, business development, and sales. Under his leadership, new business areas such as programmatic advertising and the digital agency business were established. He began his entrepreneurial career in 2012 as managing director of twofour GmbH, a four-person spin-off from a joint venture between OVB24 and team neusta in Bremen. There, he built up the business area of a full-service online agency with a focus on web development and content marketing and was responsible for both sales and production at the Rosenheim location. From 2009, as managing director of marketing & sales at OVB24 GmbH, he accompanied the development of the two-brand strategy at OVB Media with the introduction of the 24 portals (rosenheim24.de).
