Dr. Albrecht Frenzel

Dr. Albrecht Frenzel has headed the Administrative Directorate of Bayerischer Rundfunk since January 2015 and has acted as Deputy Director General since March 2022. Frenzel's tenure has been characterized by media policy discussions on the orientation and financing of public broadcasting and the financial situation at BR. He is responsible for all financial and administrative decisions at BR. Born in Giessen in 1966 and raised on Lake Constance, Frenzel completed a traineeship at the “Schwäbische Zeitung” newspaper. He studied administrative science at the University of Constance, where he also completed his doctorate. In 1998, Frenzel began his ARD career at the former SDR, worked as a consultant to the SWR administrative director and went to ARTE in Strasbourg. In 2002, he moved to NDR and headed the Directorate General department. From 2006 to 2015, Frenzel was NDR's Director of Administration.
