Elena Kountidou

Elena Kountidou is the managing director of Neue deutsche Medienmacher*innen (NdM), an organization that has been working for over 17 years to promote diversity in journalism and combat online hate speech. Through projects, publications, and campaigns, NdM advocates for non-discriminatory media work and provides targeted support to media professionals with immigrant backgrounds. The organization advises media companies on discrimination-sensitive reporting, disinformation, and digital violence.
A graduate in journalism, she works at the interface between media and culture – for Arte, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the German Federal Cultural Foundation and the House of World Cultures, among others – and has received several awards for her work. Her expertise on diversity, media and the digital public sphere makes her a sought-after voice in specialist debates and at conferences.
