Stephan Schmitter

Stephan Schmitter has been CEO of RTL Deutschland since January 2024 and is driving the company's successful transformation process and the expansion of the fast-growing streaming service RTL+. Previously, he was Managing Director Program within the management board since 2022, responsible for all content (entertainment, journalistic content, fiction, sports, RTL Studios productions) and brands of RTL Deutschland. He is also Chairman of the Board of the Bertelsmann Content Alliance, Chairman of the Board of the “Stiftung RTL - Wir helfen Kindern e.V.” foundation and a member of Bertelsmann's Group Management Committee (GMC). Stephan Schmitter began his journalistic career in 1996 at Radio Gong 96.3 in Munich. He was Managing Director of RTL Radio Center Berlin GmbH from 2007 to 2020 and CEO of RTL Radio Deutschland from 2018 to early 2023.
