„May I? Please?“

Or How Does AI Training Work With Copyrighted Content?

AI is revolutionizing the media world – but behind the output power of modern AI models lies a central legal issue: training with copyright-protected content. Is AI even allowed to access protected works? What does “Text and Data Mining” (TDM) mean in the context of copyright law? Are there limits to the statutory exceptions – and if so, where are they drawn? What role do licenses play, and how are rights holders responding to the mass use of their works in the training process?
This panel will discuss the legal framework and current controversies surrounding the use of copyright-protected content in AI training.
