Reset for the Digital Future

Reset for the Digital Futureplatform Power, Media Freedom, and Safeguarding Democracy in Europe

Digital platforms have long structured our public sphere, our access to information, and democratic discourse and they originate almost exclusively from the US or China. If Europe does not want to lose its digital sovereignty, it needs more than good intentions and legal regulations: it needs its own technological solutions, trustworthy media spaces, and the consistent defense of democratic values online.
How can Europe break free from its dependence on global platforms, and why does this require courageous political decisions, new alliances, and a rethinking of how we understand media? What can public broadcasting achieve if it sees itself not only as a broadcaster but as an active part of a European digital ecosystem? What responsibility do independent publishers bear in building a common infrastructure, and how can a European platform vision be developed that truly enables freedom of information, cultural exchange, and diversity of opinion?
We are embarking on a joint search for concrete steps toward a European media future in which digital independence is not a dream but a goal that can be shaped.
