What Will Happen After the New Treaty?
The Interstate Treaty on Reform has been adopted - and now the real work begins. With the new mandate to focus on “public value”, more flexible program requirements and a stronger digital orientation, the treaty is repositioning public media. At the same time, however, it also affects private media companies, platform operators and media policy itself.
How are the public broadcasters implementing the new mandate in concrete terms? How is the focus of the overall offering changing? And how can information, education, culture and entertainment be rebalanced?
The topic of “embedding” is controversially discussed: How open should public service content be for third-party platforms such as Joyn or RTL+ - and under what conditions?
The panel will examine the effects of the reform, categorize it in terms of media policy and ask: What comes next?
