How media companies successfully navigate between standardization and innovation

Media companies are under double pressure: on the one hand, the market, audience and technology are demanding ever faster innovation - on the other hand, the pressure to be efficient and the requirements for cost control are increasing. But how can these contradictory demands be reconciled? The answer lies in organizational ambidexterity: media companies that consistently rely on standardized processes and scalable technologies create the freedom for bold innovations - from data-driven format development to AI-supported content production. Exemplary approaches include the migration to S/4HANA while retaining selected IS Media components, the supplementary use of the Microsoft Power Platform in the MS Dynamics ERP environment and the development of modularized cloud tech stacks. This session will use specific examples and structural levers to show how successful media companies are mastering the balancing act: they are streamlining their systems - and accelerating their innovation cycles at the same time. Central data platforms open up access to real AI added value - from automation to personalized user experiences.
To be discussed:
- How standardization creates space for creativity
- Which organizational structures enable ambidextrous teams
- Faster to market: why agility and time-to-market beat perfectionism
- What role data platforms and AI play in the new balance
A practical insight for decision-makers who no longer want to choose between efficiency and innovation - but want both.
