The upcoming MEDIENTAGE SPECIAL will focus on artificial intelligence in the media.

The MTM SPECIAL AI & MEDIA will take place on April 21-22, 2026, at the Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen München (HFF).

Hardly any other technology is changing the media as abruptly as artificial intelligence: complex processes are becoming automated workflows, production studios are setting up their own AI units and tools are taking creativity to a new level. The new MEDIENTAGE SPECIAL ‘AI & MEDIA’ focuses on AI in film and media production and deals with questions like: What is state of the art in video production today? How do we keep pace with the speed of AI development – legally, technologically, and in our everyday work? AI experts will discuss these issues with decision-makers on April 21-22 in Munich.

The new conference will bring together leading minds from technology, TV and streaming, journalism, film, marketing and the creator economy at the Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film (HFF) in Munich in 2026. In keynotes and panel discussions, we will take a look at current developments, trends and challenges surrounding the use of artificial intelligence in the European media landscape. The program will be complemented by practical masterclasses.

Day 1 – Highlighting the potential of AI:
Where will Germany stand in terms of AI use in 2026? What is the current technological standard in video production? Which new processes are already established and where are individual AI solutions already facilitating film work? We will also look at trending topics in the fictional and news sectors – from micro dramas to AI-controlled news studios.

Day 2 – Effects, opportunities, and solutions for the industry:
What are the most pressing issues and areas for action? What legal hurdles need to be considered? How are workflows, team structures, and training and continuing education changing? We conduct the Future Readiness Test and examine how AI is influencing post-production, dubbing, acting, and script development. And we ask: What does ‘future video’ mean for broadcasters, platforms, and producers in light of the profound transformation process that AI is bringing about?

The MTM SPECIAL AI & MEDIA brings together the relevant players, assesses current developments and provides impetus for a shared, sustainable perspective on the use of AI. AI & MEDIA is aimed at decision-makers from TV and streaming, professionals from film, production, and creation, as well as representatives from technology and media policy.
